Mexico

Our major motivation to go to Mexico was to attend the Andreas + Hitomi wedding, but it turned out to be quite a lot more. Even though less nice and more expensive than the countries visited so far, Mexico had a lot to offer and served as the perfect ending for the trip.

One face of Mexico city..
..and the other. 18.7 million people, huge amount of pollution + cars. Time to get out, fast! Had a fun evening with Andreases friends on the town and went to sleep too late.
Waiting for the taxi to reach Texcoco where the wedding were to be held. Had we known better we'd taken a bus, which cost 1/6th of the price and traveled in 1/2 of the time. Doh!

Wedding day. Waiting outside the church for wedding couple -- and everyone else, for that matter -- to arrive. Amazingly us, the atheist Finns, were the first ones there.

When the japanese girls arrived we kinda knew having arrived to the correct wedding (there were multiple in town that night).
The wedding couple.
The garter being thrown. Andreases big brother in the front row, and I think he got it too.
The bestman + me, after lots of.. cake
Our ticket out of here! Literally. Got up at 0900 and headed for Acapulco to recover from the wedding.
The bus to Acapulco cost 30 usd but was worth it -- more legroom I could enjoy, free drinks, 2 undubbed movies.. the 5 hours just flew by.

(ok this ticket is the return one, but hey, we lost the other ones)

Went to see the legendary cliff divers of Acapulco
Here's the overall view of the area. Above the cliff you see the altar where the divers pray before plunging into the narrow gorge 35 meters below.
ok here we go.. sploisssshhhh
To my surprise they also climb the wall before jumping. Huh!
Baris enjoying "Einstein", a fruit drink
Loveboat? :)
Kimmo and Susanna were sick after the wedding, but managed to arrive anyway, and we took a day cruise together the next day. Good deal, 22 usd for a 4 hour trip -- since it had an open bar.
90% of the taxis in Acapulco were VW Beetles, which were constructed in Mexico in the 90s.
Taking a walk around the only island in Acapulco, some kind of national part. Turned out to be a longer walk than expected :-)
Cold beer had never tasted so good before as it did after the sweaty 1-2hour hike.

Sunset over Acapulco. The others left 2 days ago and me + Riikka been just relaxing ever since. In the morning we move towards Mexico City + the airport again. 20 hours of travel ahead..

A bit over month of time spent, 15 flights taken, thousands of kilometers traveled, thousands of euros burned, and now what? Time to head home -- the plants need watering.
